Ministers’ ‘fight’ for Ranil is a hoodwink

Labour Minister Manusha Nanayakkara presented immaterial and completely false facts, and the government maintained a collaborating silence, though the estate company owners commenced an organized protest.
Manusha Nanayakkara threatened to take over the estates to the government if the daily wage of Rs. 1,700 was not paid to the plantation workers in June. In response, the Estate Company Owners’ Organization has emphasized that it will not pay that salary. Also, they have stated that they would pay only Rs.1,350 per day.
Ranil Wickramasinghe, aiming at the upcoming presidential election and getting the votes of the estate people, declared at the May rally that he would give a daily salary of 1,700 rupees but had remained silent about it. However, a number of ministers are working hard to continue the election fraud based on the plantation people and reiterating the false promise, though the lives of the plantation people are burdened with unlimited economic pressure.
