Although politics is a joke to SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, it is not a joke to the NPP, says Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, the party’s national executive member.
He stated this, speaking to the media regarding the debate between NPP leader Anura Dissanayake and SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, which will be held on June 06.
He states that if the debate is held, it will be between the two party leaders on June 06, and that date was chosen from the dates sent by the SJB.
Speaking further, he asserted, “We have already informed the Samagi Jana Balawega and this country that the debate between Anura Dissanayake and Sajith Premadasa can be held on June 06. We are fully prepared and ready to discuss and prepare for that debate. We have no time to spend on other nonsense.”
We would like to tell Sajith Premadasa, Nalin Bandara, and the SJB group that politics is a joke to them, but politics is not a joke to us. They are jokers, but we have not become jokers for the country. Therefore, we have made it very clear that this debate will be held between the two party leaders. We gave them a few days for that. They said that Sajith Premadasa was too busy on those days and had no time for the debate.
As such, we told them in writing that if the dates we gave to Sajith Premadasa were not suitable, they should give a number of dates of their choice, and we would accept a date from it. Accordingly, one of the days that Sajith Premadasa said he could is June 6. Sajith Premadasa told us the day he could come for the debate. According to that, the date for the debate between the party leaders was decided. Now we have these few days to discuss the venue and the channel.”
