According to reports the helicopter – one of three travelling in a convoy – made a “hard landing” after it got into difficulties in heavy fog in the north of the country
International media states rescuers were still trying to reach the site due to the difficult weather conditions
Iran’s President Raisi and a group of senior officials had gathered to open a dam on the Iran-Azerbaijani border. The accident had occurred when the helicopter carrying the Iranian President and others was returning after the event.
According to foreign media, Iranian people have started praying for their president.
