We invite all of you to participate in the May Day rallies of the National People’s Power,” says Dr Nihal Abeysinghe, General Secretary of the National People’s Power.
He stated this while addressing a press conference of the National People’s Power held at the JVP head office at Pelawatta yesterday (24). At the press conference held under the theme ” People’s Power is the Solution to Build Motherland! – May rallies of the NPP”, the General Secretary of the National People’s Power, Specialist Dr Nihal Abeysinghe, said,” “We have been functioning as the National People’s Power for about five years. In previous years, we participated in the May Day parades and rallies of the JVP. This time, we are holding the inaugural May Rally of the National People’s Power. This maiden May rally is held on the eve of a presidential election. This year’s May rally will be a very important one for all the oppressed people of the country. We are getting ready to change this corrupt politics. Even though 138 years have passed since 1886, the working people of the world use May Day to win their rights, win a good working environment for themselves and organize themselves. We are also celebrating this May Day as the National People’s Power with the working people.
The JVP has a history of holding May rallies in a very dignified, organized and disciplined manner. The National People’s Power has a big challenge to make all four May rallies a success this year. On the morning of the first of May, a May rally will be held in Jaffna city. Three May Rallies will be held in the evening, one at the Anuradhapura Public Stadium, one near the Colombo Lipton Circus, and another at Matara.
Comrades of all the divisional councils of the National People’s Power, as well as a large number of people, are preparing to participate in our May Day rallies. We believe this participation will give a big leap and strength in the upcoming elections. !st of May is the day of all those who live by selling their physical or mental labour. Let’s make that great day the first opportunity to achieve our goals.
