Finance Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe is ready to present the budget for the year 2024 on November 13, and various economic researchers have indicated that the fulfilment of the budget targets he has presented has been very scarce.
However, it is revealed that rapid progress has been made in planning to get a massive amount of loans. In particular, the government’s annual maximum credit limit has been increased by Rs. 9,000 billion from Rs. 4,979 billion to Rs. 13,979 billion.
Despite the government announcing that it will implement a new relief programme called ‘Aswasuma’ for the people who are currently in extreme poverty, the government itself has sabotaged it just like the proposals to boost the national economy, such as export proposals and investment proposals, have been ignored.
