Protesting against the Anti-Terrorism Act and several other issues faced by the people of the North and East, a harthal campaign has been started in those provinces.
In support of the harthal, many trade associations and civil organizations in the provinces had expressed their support, and in some cities, black flags were raised in protest.
Schools are open as usual, but attendance is very low. Shops are closed in many cities, including Jaffna.
