Due to the lack of a positive response to the trade union action initiated by the university teachers since last March (9th) demanding the relaxation of the government’s tax policy, they will intensify their trade union actions in the next few days, says Professor B.H.S.K.Bannahaka, President of the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA).
He said that even though the government did not take any action to discuss or give an opportunity to discuss their problems, the members of their association joined and worked flexibly as lecturers to conduct the internal examinations of the university students despite taking trade union action. As such, the decision of the association not to join the duties of evaluation of A-level students’ answers will be carried out, he emphasized.
He said that the Executive Council of the Federation of University Teachers’ Association met on March 25 to pay attention to all these matters. Since there was no good response from the government, they decided to continue their trade union actions.
