Koswatte Mahanama Thero, the executive member of the National Bhikshu Front, a Buddhist priest who has been actively contributing to the Gall Face struggle since its inception, has been arrested.
The arrest was made by a group of plainclothes police officers who had been following Koswatte Mahanama Thero in a jeep belonging to the Kirulapana Police. This has taken place while Thero was returning to the Galle Face struggle site after a discussion held this morning (3rd) by trade unions and mass organizations.
No warrant or reason for the arrest has been announced, and Thero was taken out of the vehicle he was travelling in and taken to a police jeep.
