The vehicle pool has revealed President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s luxurious life though he had boasted he lead a simple life not misusing public funds. Lankatruth website exposed various wasteful expenses from Mahinda Rajapaksa on several occasions. At the time of the resignation of President Chandrika Kumaratunga, the value of the total fleet of vehicles owned by the President Rs. 30,910,000.
By the time Mahinda Rajapaksa won the presidential election at the end of 2014, the value of that vehicle pool had reached Rs. 3700 million. According to the annual report of the Ministry of Finance, it was Rs. 3,698,864,000.
The value of the vehicles used by Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the presidential vehicle pool has not been revealed so far.
