The government is deeply disturbed in the backdrop of Galle Face People’s struggle reaching its 50th today (28th) and the organization of a nationwide protest march and a protest march from Kollupitiya to the Gotagogama protest site.
Due to the government’s confusion, the police have even tried to take a court order to ban the demonstration. The court upheld the right to protest and allowed non-violent protests.
However, it is reported that the government is currently deploying the police and tightening security at Galle Face and in and around Kollupitiya.
Meanwhile, protests and agitations under the themes, “Struggle is not over – there is no turning back until we win” and “50 days to the Goal Face struggle today!” are to be held in the city of Digana, near the clock tower in Kurunegala, in the town of Akuressa, near the Galle railway station, in front of the Tissamaharama roundabout, near the Walasmulla bus stand, in the Ambalanthota town, near the Anuradhapura DS roundabout, near the Bandarawela bus stand and near the council.
