Police are going after people who have taken part in damaging private and public property while the main culprits who were ordered to be brought to justice in connection with the attack on a peaceful mass protest on the 9th have been allowed to roam.
Nearly 100 people have been arrested by the police from various parts of the country this morning (15th). Some of them have been granted bail and others have been remanded.
However, the Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate has ordered the police to produce Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa, Johnston Fernando, Pavithra Wanni Arachchi and other politicians who conducted the crime from Temple Trees as well as the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon. However, it is reported that the police have not been able to hand over the relevant summons to the perpetrators.
