Following is the Facebook post of Bimal Ratnayake, the National Organizer of the JVP, regarding the appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
“Some ask why we could not play the game Ranil did!
One is that Ranil is the mercenary brought by the Rajapaksas to protect their crimes and assets rather than Ranil being the Prime Minister!
Ranil, is a choice of Rajapaksas!
It is a skill only according to those who are in the lumpen political game such as Sajith, Maithripala and others (who are being sold, sell, and more ..). For, the likes of Sajith and Maithripala were auctioned off cheaply to Gotabaya yesterday, and Ranil got himself sold for a mere five cents.
When a Rajapaksa was the Executive President, the country’s people were able to push the Rajapaksas to an island in Trincomalee! The Rajapaksas have been denied a single inch of land where they could kive!
On May 9, the Rajapaksas attacked the mass protest with state sponsorship and underestimated the people’s power! Now, they have seen aw the results!
Again on May 12 Ranil was appointed and underestimated the public opinion again!
People will answer it!
Let’s believe in the power of the people, the power of the people to stand up!
So don’t come advising us to play dirty political games!
Don’t ever break your backs because we didn’t do it!
Let us be principled!
Pressure us to be more populist!
We and a majority of the people have the intellect and the backbone to continue this people’s struggle!
