President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has taken steps to brief the Maha Nayaka Theras of the Three Sects responding to the letter they sent to President regarding the Government on the current situation in the country and the recommendations and suggestions made to take further action.
The relevant letter was handed over to the Chief Prelates by the Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhasasana Prof Kapila Gunawardena.
The contents of the letter have not yet been revealed. The Prelates had, on April 4, submitted a joint proposal to the President on the course of action to be taken to resolve the current crisis in the country.
In the letter, the Theras had urged the President to immediately dissolve the Cabinet, including the Prime Minister, and listen to the people’s voice.
