Marching forward to become the most corrupt country in the world

According to the latest rankings of the most corrupt countries globally, Sri Lanka is moving fast to occupy its top place.
It is revealed in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) presented by Transparency International for the year 2021. In 2020, Sri Lanka was ranked 94th, and by the end of 2021, it had dropped to 102nd. Thus, under the Rajapaksas regime, including that of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka has come down by eight places. At the end of 2004, prior to Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidency, Sri Lanka was ranked 67th.
The Corruption Perceptions Index examines data from 184 countries worldwide annually. Thus, it is clear that Sri Lanka is rapidly surpassing the most corrupt countries in the world.
