Govt. to disarray O / L exam by slashing teacher allowances

The Cabinet has decided to reduce the daily allowance for GCE Ordinary Level Examination Center Examiners from Rs. 1800 to Rs. 1600.

This was approved by the Cabinet on October 28 last year and the Commissioner-General of Examinations has sent a circular to the Provincial Directors of Education on July 16 to implement it.
There are massive protests against the non-payment of salaries due to teachers for 24 years and the cut in the daily allowance for examination duties will have a major impact on the forthcoming GCE Ordinary Level Examination. A serious question has arisen among the parents as to why the government is deliberately acting in this manner.
