A Development Officer of the Uva Provincial Council, who previously served as the Private Secretary to former State Minister of Primary Industries Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The suspect was taken into custody over allegations of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 8.1 million.
According to investigations, the money was allegedly solicited and received to bypass standard legal procedures and facilitate the export of phosphate exclusively to three selected companies.
