The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (August 28) that it has concluded its investigation against former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara regarding alleged corruption in sending workers to Israel under the previous government.
The matter was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
Officials representing CIABOC informed the court that the investigation files involving Nanayakkara have been finalized and submitted to the Bribery Commission’s Commissioners for final decision.
Requesting a date to notify the court of future legal proceedings, CIABOC officials asked for an adjournment. Considering the submissions, Chief Magistrate Bodaragama ordered the case to be recalled on December 18.
The investigation was initiated following allegations that former Minister Nanayakkara abused his official position to commit corruption by selectively choosing political loyalists for agricultural employment opportunities in Israel during the previous administration’s tenure.
