President Meets High-Level Foreign Investors

A high-level delegation led by Zhang Bingnan, head of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat today (11) afternoon.

Detailed discussions were held regarding current and proposed future projects centered around the Colombo Port City.

During the meeting, executives from CCCC highlighted that the President’s forward-looking agenda has become a key factor in encouraging foreign investment. Expressing high confidence in the government’s initiatives, they assured their commitment to bringing further major investment opportunities to Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, the delegation expressed strong interest in expanding investment opportunities in renewable energy, logistics, and digital technology, noting that Sri Lanka has the potential to attract significant investments by becoming a major regional hub in these sectors.

The Chinese executives also pledged that 90% of the workforce for these investment projects will consist of local labor, generating substantial employment opportunities.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Chief of Presidential Staff Prabath Chandrakeerthi, Senior Economic Advisor to the President Duminda Hulangamuwa, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Harsha Amarasekera, PC.

The foreign delegation included Tang Qiaoliang, Foreign Business Director of CCCC; Ji Haijun, Deputy Manager of the Integrated Department; Zhang Xiaoqiang, General Manager of China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC); Wang Gang, General Manager of CHEC’s Sri Lanka Division; and Xiong Hongfeng, Managing Director of CHEC Port City Colombo, among others.
