Following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, permanent reconstruction projects have now commenced for numerous infrastructure initiatives that were previously mocked by the opposition for relying on immediate, temporary relief measures.
In particular, sandbags were initially deployed as an emergency measure to ensure a steady water supply for rice cultivation during this year’s Maha season. Thanks to this timely intervention, farmers were able to achieve a record-breaking paddy harvest this season.
Furthermore, full-scale plans are already underway to permanently reconstruct the damaged canals, bunds, and spillways.
