Former cabinet minister S.M. Chandrasena was arrested today by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) following a summons requiring his appearance. He was taken into custody upon arrival at the Commission’s office.
Chandrasena has held key ministerial roles in the administrations of Mahinda Rajapaksa, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and Ranil Wickremesinghe. His arrest adds to growing public scrutiny, as both his wife and brother, S.M. Ranjith, are currently serving prison sentences related to government financial fraud.
Authorities have yet to release full details of the charges, but the arrest marks a significant development in ongoing anti-corruption efforts.
