Former Commissioner General of the Department of Motor Traffic, Nishantha Weerasinghe, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The arrest comes as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct and irregularities that took place during his tenure in office. Authorities have not yet disclosed the full details of the charges but confirmed the arrest was made following credible findings during the probe.
Weerasinghe is expected to be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, where further legal proceedings will commence.
