Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is set to record statements from two senior officials who served under former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, as part of an ongoing investigation into a foreign visit made during his presidency.
According to police sources, the inquiry focuses on certain aspects of the overseas trip undertaken by Wickremesinghe while in office.
The two officials identified for questioning are currently abroad. In response, the CID has sought the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange their return to Sri Lanka for further investigation.
