In a major development within Sri Lanka’s legal system, the Attorney General’s Department has concluded investigations into nearly 600 criminal files during the first five months of this year.
These cases, covering a range of serious offenses, are now being prepared for legal proceedings. A large number have already been forwarded to the High Courts, with formal indictments filed and trial processes initiated.
The swift handling of such a high volume of cases signals an intensified effort to accelerate justice and reduce delays in the criminal justice system.
