Dr Harshana Suriyapperuma has resigned from his position as a Member of Parliament, likely in preparation to take on the role of Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.
Elected through the National List under the National People’s Power, Dr Suriyapperuma also served as the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning. His departure from Parliament is expected to pave the way for his appointment as the top official at the Finance Ministry, as Mahinda Siriwardena is due to retire from the post at the end of this month.
