Good news for coconut plantation owners

Plantation and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyaratta says that steps will be taken to provide fertilizer subsidies to coconut farmers as a solution to the current coconut crisis.
He said that 27,500 metric tons of fertilizer imported to the island will be given to coconut farmers.
“Our ministry’s tens of thousands of acres of coconut plantations have not been fertilized in five years, which means less yield. People were not in a position to apply fertilizer. A ship of fertilizer arrived, and we discussed it in the cabinet recently, and we decided to give half of the ship to coconut cultivation.
Plantations and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyaratta further states that it will be possible to find solutions to the current coconut crisis by next year.
