Mahinda’s legal adviser’s fee is 9.0 million!

Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa revealed in Parliament yesterday (17) how money from the  President’s Fund was misused and given to the Ministers.
Jayantha Weerasinghe, who is said to have been appointed as former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s legal advisor, was paid 9.0 million rupees from the presidential fund, and the highest amount, 30.0 million, was paid to former prime minister D.M. Jayaratne.
The Act covers how the President’s Fund will be used “to promote religion, to grant educational scholarships and to recognize those who have rendered outstanding services to the nation and the welfare of the people” within the scope of providing financial support. However, Mahinda Rajapaksa and other former presidents have given money beyond the recommended limits from the fund, abusing the ability to give money from the fund at the discretion of the president in order to appease the former ministers.
