Officers from the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) were deployed today (8) to rice mills in the Polonnaruwa and Tissamaharama areas.
Asela Bandara, CAA’s Information Director, states that the authority’s officers will also be employed in other rice mills in the future.
He also stated that a report will be obtained regarding the current stock of rice mills, the amount of rice released to the market, and the amount of rice produced daily.
In this way, the CAA officers have been deployed according to an agreement reached yesterday (7) during a discussion between the rice mill owners and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
