Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama Weerasinghe permitted the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday (11) to interrogate and obtain statements from the 18 ministers led by former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and former President Ranil Wickramasinghe who represented the cabinet that approved the cabinet paper submitted by former health minister Keheliya Rambukwella to import 182 types of medicines under the Indian loan scheme under the pretence of shortage of medicines.
Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella presented this cabinet paper in September 2022, in addition to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, former ministers who served as members of the Cabinet are Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Services Nimal Siripala, Minister of Fisheries and The Magistrate has given permission to get staetements from Minister of Aquatic Resources Douglas Devananda, Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Transport and Highways Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Justice Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Tourism Lands, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Harin Fernando, Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana, Urban Development Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, Buddha Sasana, Corporate and Cultural Minister Vidura Wickramanayake, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, Environment Minister Naseer Ahmed, The magistrate has also allowed statements from Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Roshan Ranasinghe, Public Security Minister Tiran Alas, Trade and Commerce Minister Naleen Fernando and State Minister for Labour and Foreign Employment Jagath Pushpakumara.
