Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasizes that the education system should be reformed so that a society that respects virtues and is not based only on employment can be created. She states that the existing politicized education system should be freed from it, and building trust in education is a prime responsibility of the National People’s Power Government.
She also states that the family’s economic level should not be an obstacle to children’s receiving quality education, and the National People’s Power policy states that 6% of the gross national product should be set aside for education.
Dr. Harini Amarasuriya participated as the chief guest in a special workshop held at Ananda College, Colombo, yesterday (28) with the participation of the principals of the 396 national schools across the island. This workshop was held after 05 years.
