Former Member of Parliament Lakshman Nipuna Arachchi has been appointed to fill the vacancy created when NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who represented Colombo District, was elected the President at the election held on the 21st. Mr Nipuna Arachchi was the next in line on the preference list for Colombo District.
The election commission has issued the gazette notice making the appointment.
