Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has resigned from the post.
He has sent his resignation letter to the new President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
In his resignation letter, he states that since the 09th Executive President was elected in the presidential election held on the 21st, he will resign from the post of Prime Minister in accordance with Article 47(2)(a) of the Constitution of the Democratic People’s Government of Sri Lanka.
