The operative election law regarding the presidential election scheduled for 21 September is effective from today (26), states RAML Ratnayake, Chairman of the Election Commission.
Accordingly, he said, the candidates and supporters are requested to support the election commission’s measures to conduct a free and fair election.
He further emphasized that legal action will be taken against anyone who acts outside the election laws.
