Eranga Gunasekara, the National Organizer of the Socialist Youth Union, has filed a complaint with the Bribery and Corruption Investigation Commission under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 regarding the misuse of public property by the current President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Harin Prasanandu, Ministerial Secretary Acharara Kanapathipilla Mahesan and National Youth Service Council President Pasindu Gunaratne have been named respondents.
During a political rally named ‘Sabewa’ held in Kuliapitiya on March 10, vehicles bearing numbers NA 9099, NB 1389, NB 3384, NB 3383 belonging to the National Youth Service Council were allegedly used without authorization. Furthermore, a dance group from the Maharagama National Youth Service Council was also involved in the rally, with the complaint stating that the related funds had not been settled.
Anjana Amarasinghe, Secretary of International Affairs of the SYU, and Malinda Jeewanda, its National Committee member, were also present.
