It is confirmed again and again that despite the Wickremesinghe’s Pohottu alliance government’s claim that the country’s health situation is stable, the health sector has been allowed to completely break down.
The latest evidence is presented in the lead of today’s (20) Lankadeepa, and another news item adds to it. The lead of the newspaper is “360 specialist doctors have left the country.” The newspaper states that this has been revealed in a study conducted by a team of specialist doctors attached to the Ministry of Health.
Adding to the alarming trend, a news item on the first page reports, “The third anaesthetist from Hambanthota Hospital has also fled the country,” further exacerbating the healthcare crisis.
