President Ranil Wickremesinghe has changed several ministerial positions.
Accordingly, Mahinda Amaraweera, the Agriculture Cabinet Minister, has been appointed the Agriculture and Plantation Industry Cabinet Minister.
Keheliya Rambukwella, who was the cabinet health minister, has been appointed as the environment cabinet minister, replacing Nasir Ahmed, who lost his seat in the cabinet.
Ramesh Pathirana, who previously served as Cabinet Minister of Plantation Industries, has been appointed Cabinet Minister of Industries.
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, has been appointed the non-cabinet Minister for Plantation Industries.
Political commentators say that the shuffling of ministerial posts confirms President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s move to protect ministers who have been accused of extreme corruption.
