The commemoration of the 56th death anniversary of the international revolutionary Ernest Che Guevara, organized by the Socialist Youth Union (SYU), was held at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo yesterday (8th). A large number of young people were present.
Young people had come from all parts of the island to participate in a cultural festival and listen to a commemorative speech delivered by the JVP and NPP Leader Anura Dissanayake. A number of exhibition booths had been built for public display depicting various stages of the revolutionary life of Ernest Che Guevara.
Ernest Che Guevara was executed in Bolivia on October 8, 1967, by a conspiracy initiated by the American CIA.
