“Rally with National People’s Power to overthrow the corrupt regime” – Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne

In order to live as human beings in this country with our children, everyone should unite and rally around the National People’s Power and overthrow the corrupt regime, says retired Rear Admiral of the Navy Fred Seneviratne
He said this speaking at the ‘Adhitana’ (Determination), conference held by the Retired Armed Forces Collective, expressed these views at Polonnaruwa yesterday (September 30th).
He said, “We all have been oppressed by the two gangs that have ruled the country for many years. As such, we all want to oust them. We are all united to establish a government of the National People’s Power that promotes humanity, social justice, and democracy. At present, we all have been deprived of a good meal, and even some middle-class families have been tempted to limit themselves to two meals and sleep more. We don’t need palaces, but we do need shelter. How many of us have had the opportunity to make such a home to live as a human being with our children? Even though we need a job and an adequate pension to live, none of us gets the income necessary for such a living. Also, our children should have a situation where they are able to continue their education and a most favourable opportunity to receive treatment in case of illness. But the health minister says that funeral directors are being maintained near hospitals. Also, it is essential that the public passenger transport service works in a good way. Electricity, gas and water should be available at an affordable price. But what has happened today?
I mentioned some of the most essential things for human beings to live. Although we ourselves can provide some essential things, the rulers are appointed to have a mechanism to provide some things. Their responsibility is to run the relevant institutions with proper management and provide them with proper infrastructure. But today, even the dogs of the rulers of this country are fed with your and my tax money. But we have to go to crave to have a delicious meal. Whether we have shelter or not, they have bought palaces with our tax money. Even though we don’t have jobs, they have jobs that give them a lot of income. Even if our children lose education, their children have the ability to get education not only in this country but also abroad. We are not jealous, but I’m merely making a comparison. Medicines for their illnesses are brought from India or Singapore. You and I travel hanging on the train or on the bus, putting our lives at risk, but they travel in 50-80 million vehicles with your and my tax money. They get electricity, water and gas from our tax money. Their main intention is to get into the political culture of making money through fraud and corruption.
As local politicians, they come in a simple way but live very luxurious lives in a few years. Even though the people living in this area cannot cut a branch from a tree from the forest to make a mamotee, they have been looting government property for many generations. We must all unite around the National People’s Power to drive out this corrupt regime.”
