NPP Member of Parliament Vijitha Herath accused the government of acting arbitrarily regarding the money of the Employees’ Provident Fund and the Employees’ Trust Fund during the restructuring of the local debt and is ignoring even the cases that have been filed before the Supreme Court.
Mr Herath pointed out that it is not even possible to hold such a debate when the petition filed for the Supreme Court under FC166/2023 is scheduled to be heard on the 13th as the owners of those funds cannot raise their voices for their rights.
He said this while participating in the parliamentary debate on domestic debt restructuring.
