Trade unions in many sectors such as health, port, electricity, water, railway, post, banking and education have started a nationwide strike to oppose new tax revisions implemented by the government, increase in electricity tariffs, shrinking of democracy etc.
Teachers’ and principals’ unions say that the strike is in effect today in all the schools in the island.
