A heated situation arose yesterday (8th) due to the attempt by the police to disrupt the peaceful protest organized by the ‘Women for Rights’ (WFR) organization at the Polduwa entrance to the Parliament at Battaramulla.
WFR had organized this protest to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 and to protest against the increase in prices of goods, taxes, electricity bills and postponing the elections. A large number of people including National People’s Power Parliamentarian Harini Amarasuriya, National People’s Power Colombo City Council candidate Vray Kelly Balthasar participated in this event.
