It is reported that a security officer working at the university has died after being exposed to the tear gas fired by the police yesterday (07) in front of Colombo University. The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.
“He was subjected to a heavy tear gas attack at the Faculty of Law. He was a middle-aged man from Anuradhapura. When asked if he wanted water, he said no and went to the toilet. He died in the toilet,” a lecturer at Colombo University has told the media.
There have been reports that several people who had been directly exposed to the tear gas attacks by the police had died due to heart attacks.
