Water and tear gas attack on NPP protest

The anti-riot police carried out a water and tear gas attack on the protest march the National People’s Power (NPP) started today (26th) afternoon, protesting against the increase in electricity bill, increase in taxes, non-holding of elections.
The protestors and the anti-riot police met face to face near Ibbanwala Junction near Town Hall, where the leaders of the NPP continuously told the police to allow them to move forward. There was a heated exchange of views between the two sides, and soon after, the police launched a water and tear gas attack.
However, the protestors reunited and held a rally at Lipton Circus in Colombo.
