He made this statement while participating in the debate held in Parliament yesterday regarding the incident that took place on the 9th.

They went to Temple Trees. The ultimate wish of the majority of those who came here was to bid farewell to the Prime Minister who had served this country for a long time on the day of his resignation. We were present at that meeting.
At the end of this meeting, we regret to mention that some stupid politicians indirectly influenced the people who came here. This has to be accepted. Less than 10% of those who came under that influence marched on the Galle Road with the mentality that they should attack GotaGogama.
That incident was a very unfortunate incident. This struggle has been here for a month. But after that unfortunate incident a group of people went there, and at that time, I was at Temple Trees. I stayed there and spoke to DIG Tennakoon. This unfortunate incident is going to happen. Please stop this. DIG Tennakoon told me, no problem sir, all the road blocks have been put up and we will stop this.
After giving that telephone call, I went to the Presidential Palace for a meeting with the President. When I went to that meeting I was called by former Member of Parliament Ashu Marasinghe. He said there was going to be a big problem Minister, tell the President to stop this immediately.
Then I told the President while having a discussion with the President, a big problem sir, there is going to be a big crisis here and he should intervene immediately and stop it.
Then the President got a phone call in front of us. There were several ministers. He said, “I told you in the morning to stop this. What is happening now? The DIG said that IGP had asked not to use water cannons or tear gas. He said he spoke at 12.40 and the IGP had said not to stop it. the DIG told the President that the IGP had told him not to stop the attack.
