The Medical Faculty Student Action Center held a protest march in Kurunegala yesterday (5th) against the demotion of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, which is currently affiliated with the North-Western Medical Faculty. Students say the decision to demote the hospital has been taken due to political motives.
They also demanded the establishment of professorial units at the new medical faculties in Moratuwa and Sabaragamuwa, the immediate construction of the building belonging to the Moratuwa Medical Faculty and the enhancement of facilities for clinical training in all medical faculties. A large number of medical students and parents participated in the demonstration.
