India tightening its grip

While the government is making a massive effort to get India’s support for Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in March, India’s pressure on the government of Sri Lanka has intensified in various quarters.
It is revealed that in addition to the process India has already launched to acquire energy independence in Sri Lanka directly, it has also launched a major plan to acquire plantation companies in Sri Lanka.
Against this backdrop, Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister GL Peiris Peiris is scheduled to leave for an official visit to India tomorrow (6th). According to political analysts, the final decisions of the talks with Indian diplomats during the stay will put more pressure on Sri Lanka.
