A group of Pohottu party thugs who had come to attack the Gampaha District Convention of the NPP held today (30th) have been caught by the convention participants and handed over to the police.
The two arrested by the police have confessed to all the details.
It has been revealed that they were sent by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga. Also, photographs found on their mobile phones have indicated that they are members of the security services affiliated with Avant guard and are retired Army personnel.
It is reported that they have confessed that they were given Rs. 5,000 each to attack the NPP convention. They have also admitted that they had come to carry out the egg attack on the protest march held from Maradana Technical Junction to Colombo Fort on the 19th against the sale of fuel tanks in Trincomalee and public property.
The aim of the government is to carry out organized egg attacks during the mass rallies of the NPP and publish that the public carried out the attacks.
