Former parliamentarian and Member of the JVP Political Bureau Sunil Handunneththi has called on Gotabaya Rajapaksa to refrain from sending CID officers to temples to inquire into the democratic conduct of the National People’s Power (NPP) at the village level. Instead, he should call him using the telephone number he already has with him Mr Handuneththi has added
The former Member of Parliament said this challenging the President and the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Colombo South Deshabandu Tennakoon when the branch of the National People’s Power was established in the Liyangoda area in Kottawa on the 13th. CID officials had visited the temple where the meeting was held on four occasions and pressured them to stop the meeting.
Mr Haanduneththi emphasized this, noticing that CID officials were also present during the meeting.
