It is revealed that discussions are underway with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to resolve the current severe financial crisis in the country.

According to political sources, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has stated that he is in talks with the IMF and hopes to pursue a concessional approach without subjecting the country to strict conditions.
However, government ministers and MPs have recently been saying that they would not go to the International Monetary Fund for any reason. Due to the worsening dollar shortage in the country, there is a shortage of essential commodities, including food items and medicines.
