The government had kept undisclosed the agreement signed between the US New Fortress Energy Company on the handover of the ownership of the Yugadanavi power plant. However, Anura Dissanayake as an MP of the National People’s Power (NPP) participating in the budget debate of the Ministry of Finance this morning (10th) tabled a copy of the agreement in Parliament.
Although the Minister of Power and Energy Gamini Lokuge had stated that the agreement would be tabled in response to a question raised by Comrade Anura Dissanayake under 27/2 on an earlier occasion, it had not been granted.
Recently, the media had revealed that it had included a clause that prevented it from being revealed for two years after it was signed. It is included as clause 13.1 of the agreement.
