The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CPI) had been at 3.9% at the beginning of this year, but it had more than tripled to 9.9% by November.
It is revealed in a statement issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on November 30. Inflation, which was 3.0% in January, had risen to 3.9% subject to fluctuations by the end of April. But since April, it has continued to rise to 9.9%.
Economic analysts point out that inflation is mainly due to the printing of huge sums of money, the collapse of the rupee and the shortage of goods.
